Hello everyone,
A special post today sharing a Bite Size training video from The Monkey Temple. Requested by our web admin Chris W for his HEMA Martial Arts club 'Masters of Defence' do check them out on Facebook HERE
Indian Clubs are a great tool to use for conditioning. The ones we use are light and because they’re light, they don’t make the muscles become tense when we’re using them. Instead, they help to open the joints and stretch the tendons and connective tissues. The ones I use are only 1.4kg but after 15 or 20 minutes of use, you can feel how they’re working the grip strength as well. Another thing they’re great for is shoulder mobility. The movements are relaxed and not forced, the weight of the clubs sit on the tendons and gently stretches them.
In this video we look at nine different patterns. Some of them are very similar the Swings that we already practice. So, it’s a little like ‘Weighted Swings’. Go steady at first, take care not hit your legs or head and of course, have fun.
To start, only practice with these a couple of times a week. They work our tendons and they will need to time to recover after each session.
Keep training.
